Deal & Walmer - A Celebration

Deal and Walmer have attracted artists over the centuries.  Turner, Lowry and Ardizzone are among the famous painters who have been inspired by their dramatic seascapes.

Now contemporary artist, Tom Burnham, has made a welcome contribution to the artistic scene by producing this superb collection of local watercolours.

He has interpreted familiar landmarks - Tudor castles, maritime churches, time ball tower, Royal Marines barracks - in his own inimitable style.

A commentary by Gregory Holyoake interprets these scenes in a lively text which adds fascinating historical details to accompany these charming paintings.

Kent Windmills & Watermills

Kent has a variety of windmills and watermills. There has been a revival of interest in these iconic buildings and many have been restored in recent times by dedicated volunteers. Most are regularly open to visitors and several mill flour commercially.

Artist, Tom Burnham, has toured the county to sketch a selection of mills - post, smock and tower - which he has painted in warm, delicate watercolours, capturing each mill's individual character and presenting them in their country setting. HIs instantly recognisable style has earned him a host of admirers and his original paintings are avidly sought after by collecters.

A commentary by Kent author Gregory Holyoake explores their history in a lively manner and he includes amusing anecdotes to tell their fascinating tale.
